FaOC Teaching-Method "My film, My story"
Film can be used in communication and storytelling; Film as Supported Communication (FaOC). When speech is difficult due to a physical disability, illness and/or psychological problems, telling stories is a major challenge. Images, photos and/or film can provide support in describing the context and details of the story. Image provides visual access to the story.
The FaOC teaching method MF, MV can be used privately, at school and during speech therapy to improve oral storytelling skills (CED and SLO). The teaching method consists of 5 modules: 1) theory, 2) film lessons, 3) film management lessons, 4) FaOC lessons, and 5) the FaOC scorecard. In addition, there are many examples and assignments, in pictures and words, of how the teaching method can be used at home, at school and in speech therapy.
Parallel to the "My Film, My story" project, FaOC research is taking place on “Film as Supported Communication (FaOC)” at Radboud University Nijmegen.
The teaching method is available for free. The login for the teaching method can be found on this site.
